According to the organising committee spokesperson Michael Bakare “our book reading events are an evening where Authors turn storytellers and they present an opportunity to interact with exceptional and inspiring authors across various generational divides”.
“Both Authors young and witty, with a strong driven passion for national development have their books endorsed by Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s former minister of education and world-bank vice president” He added.
“Laterna is honored to partner with The Dream Center and GLEEHD Foundation to carry out this unique and inclusive book reading event,” says Mr Remi Morgan CEO of Laterna Ventures Ltd. “We are proud to sponsor this event as part of our commitment to education and learning.”
In “Are we the turning point generation?” Chude – arguably one of Nigeria’s most influential young people below 30 – x-rays the past of our beloved country with boldness and wit beyond his age. He borrows a leaf from some of Chinua Achebe’s most important works; highlights Lee Kuan Yew’s narrative on Singapore; plus stories from Israel and China. He is unashamed and fearless to tell the truth.
Preserve my Saltiness is a collection of poems on faith, perseverance and culture, while The book "Half a loaf & a Bakery" is a "How To" book for young people with real life experiences.
One World Youth Project’s Executive Director Jennifer Rimmington in her endorsement said “In this book I see that Jennifer has wrangled in the electrifying bull of creativity to possess her words in a way that will speak to others deeply. She speaks to you in these pages from a place of strength and the calm assuredness that this is exactly what she would like to say. I hope you listen. Because by recording her truth, she has recorded our truth. So, take a moment and learn of your soul as you read the poetry of hers. Jennifer, you speak truth in a way that seems as though you are a hundred years old and have lived the lives of many. Your truth is unforgivingly raw, uncut crystal - like all truth that is worth telling. Thank you for sharing your gift of poetry with the world. Because, as we know, the world needs it”.
Reiterating the importance of this special session, GLEEHD Director Dayo Israel said “One of our goals at GLEEHD Foundation is to advance knowledge and learning and this event provide another platform to do that. The evening provides an opportunity for the author-reader connect”.
