C5W Social Start-up Saturday Concept Note

Objectives:
Social Start-up Saturdays SSS is an initiative of Creative Five World. It is a day to collaborate on Social Good, a day when start-up proprietors share their experiences through the labyrinth of entrepreneurship. The simple idea behind SSS came out of a desire for a continuous and accessible event for social, start-up & small medium enterprise communities to showcase their business and also to donate time, resources and even their voices to help good causes in Nigeria and even around the world.
Start-ups are businesses with limited operating history, limited in that it could just be a person with an idea and a purposeful commercial activity. When you think back to how business was done a few decades ago, there was a great deal of constraint with regards to what organisations could do and how far they could take their business with the limited resources available to them.
This Initiative will provide a platform in different spaces where young business owners can network, share insights and learn from the experiences of their peers. The focus will be on 4 platforms Twitter, Instagram, Google Hangouts and Networking get-togethers.
Twitter Conversations #SSS14
Every Saturday the initiative will arrange conversations on twitter, where a young business owner operating in various socio-economic sectors will share their experiences and the journey of their organisation(s) and also answer questions from other entrepreneurs and intending business owners including ‘twitteratis’. An esteemed communications expert would moderate these sessions. In 2014, participants can get involved in the SSS conversation using the hashtag #SSS14

The first of the twitter conversations is scheduled for Saturday, October 11th 2014 starts at 17:59. The Guest for the maiden edition will be Oluseun Onigbinde of Budgit and this session will be moderated by UNISDR Ambassador, Olumide Idowu
We are excited that this was inspired by the success of the Guinness #MadeofBlack and Samsung #GalaxyS campaigns. Both brands have continued to be the powerful tools for social networking and connectivity in Nigeria and even across Africa with its unrivalled campaigns, amongst other features and this tie into our objectives of connecting people with ideas and cultural milestones that will enrich their lives.
Elevator Pitch Showcase on Google Hangout
This is also part of the SSS initiative that seeks to promote, connect and expose start-ups to potential sponsors, investors, clients, partners, customers and collaborations.
This is inspired by Google and powered by Techcity. Our Maiden edition would feature a presentation on Waste 2 Wealth by a renowned Social Entrepreneur, Echoing Green Fellow and CEO Wecycler, Balikiss Abiola.
INSTAPOSE (Instagram for SSS)
This premier image-sharing platform would play host to intimate and atmospheric imagery ranging from fashion, culinary events and the benefit of social good. The Nokia, Access and Airtel brands inspire this. It would feature a typical day in the life of a social entrepreneur. Instagram users would be able to participate by posting pictures of entrepreneurs that inspire them and/or their works then tagging them and @CharityChaste. Participants will also be expected to follow @CharityChaste and the entrepreneur involved.
Networking Get-togethers
Creative Five World will leverage on their marketing, branding, and event management experience to organize various informal gathering of young existing and prospective entrepreneurs. The maiden edition of the event will be themed ‘Old School Saturday OSS’. Creative Five World has successfully tapped into an enthusiastic “retro nostalgia” for 1980s music, fashion, and culture. The OSS event will present an attractive sponsorship and brand-building opportunity for organisations as part of the SSS initiative.
The Social Start-up Saturdays SSS initiative is expected to drive socio-economic development and provide young potential entrepreneurs with a platform to share and address their enterprise goals.
