Does Nigeria Deserve a Brown Heart?

Frankly Speaking: Does Nigeria Deserve a Brown Heart? Love it or Leave it
A remark made by the Co-Founder Brown Heart Foundation at the Yaran Haske Media Review held at Adamawa State Government House, Yola on Wednesday 15th June 2011
The Thoughts in my Brown Heart are such that I cannot completely explain or recount. The Pain in my heart is tough but I can overcome. Everyone I met on

account of the Yaran Haske Project has been quite thrilling: The Good, Bad and the Ugly, people who think highly of the youth only in their speech and those who complain bitterly of the state government not playing their roles” Yes, Young Man, you are doing a great job, this is meant to be done by the Government and the Philanthropist in the state and yet you are not an indigene,” oh yes, am not an indigene but Adamawa is now home to me” A place that deserves a Brown Heart.
Words alone cannot meet the needs of the people. What I miss most when I listen to most Individuals and Organisation in the state is Inspiration and affirmation. I strongly believe there is no compulsion in helping to shape the Country greatest resource as agent of change but there is a necessity to contributing your quota to your immediate environment. Let me ask you again If not You, Who Now?
When Yaran Haske was conceived last year, our intention was to celebrate childhood and to persuade stakeholders, Inviduals and organistion to share in our service to humanity by promoting laudable initiatives as ours as a model to others in the state. But believe you me it wasn’t easy building this from scratch, though we are talking about Children but it was not a Child play. There were debts, there were losses, there were sacrifices and it was the hardest work possible… for the cause we had set our hearts and minds upon to achieve and we thank the Interim President of the AUN at that Time, Bettina Sawhill, NYSC MDGs, Nigeria Immigration Service and Corporate Nigeria for making the First Season a Success May.26-27 2010.
Now, History is made again here today as the 1st Media Review in the state is holding at the Government House Press Gallery in commemoration of the Celebration of the African Child Day and to forge partnerships with stakeholders, Civil Societies, State Government, Brands and the Almighty Media. Our intention to co-host with the office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (The New Bride that would storm Adamawa with a bang little wonder they might get the hosting rights to Season Three of Yaran Haske 2012) is at the right timing.
We can start by getting sincere to ourselves by saying it blunt when you are been approached for sponsorship: Yes we would do it or No we can do it; don’t look for mistakes to draw your conclusion or ask for repeated follow ups you would not attend to. Please always ask the organisation for clarification when you are not sure of the vision of the project and when you are supporting, inform us what area of sponsorship, why you are giving the sponsorship and the benefits you hope to get. Always acknowledge all correspondence and please put your Money where your Mouth is… At that time, very few people believed in this dream to invest in it. Of course with each step, we won more converts, and I must take a moment to thank God for sending us angels: who stood in that battle with us, and saw our vision. Most of them we didn’t know them from anywhere, no one called them on our behalf, we just went and told them our vision, they shared that vision… and they re-assured our faith in the vision. We thank our Lead sponsor AADIL, Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative, H.E Hannatu Ngillari, Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bello Abdullahi, Ministry of Women Affairs, Cadbury, Abti Academy, Rotary Club of Yola, Ali Sani Yakura, Faruq Baba Inna, Hungbeme Moses, Sunny Perfection, Public Spirited Individuals, Organisations, Schools, Volunteers, Advisors and the Mass Media in the State.
We have to admit that, with Brown Heart established as Nigeria’s Voice for the Heart, through our Sponsors agent Creative Five World Company: it has gotten easier: every year we get more support, a broader coalition and institutional backing. The media blitz, a bit of which you can see here today, has been consistently amazing.
Still in some respects, no, in many respects, the journey isn’t as easy as it should be. It isn’t. It isn’t…But let us assure you of one thing: come August 2011, we will unveil to Nigerians another spectacular show that in detail, hype and substance rivals the best anywhere else, and we will do it because … look around you – even in this hall today – there are many, many examples of people who are ready to put down their Three T’s: Time, Talent and Treasure and who only believe that they can do it, and are ready to work as hard as they can to achieve it. So we invite you today to join us on this Two-month journey and for the better part of the year.
We invite you to be a part of this genuine and proudly Nigerian success story. We invite you to share in the sense of fulfillment and substance that comes from doing something truly worth your while that adds real value and makes real impact. Join us, citizens of the Brown Heart, as we celebrate Aspiring Journalists in our Children moving the country forward and that is Journalist Junior, 2011!
Let’s stop being spectators, be an actor, ACTOR NO DEY DIE. Turn up the volume of your voice in terms of inclusion and Participation. Nagode Sose and God Bless Nigeria. © Chaste Inegbedion, Co-Founder Brown Heart Foundation
